Here's my first bento box! A bento is a japanese lunch. Bentos are cute little lunches that satisfy the eye and the taste buds. They are made in cute little boxes that are easy to take with you anywhere! We don't have anywhere near us that sells traditional boxes so I just bought a Lock and Lock box. It works great! The only thing I need to do is decorate it and I have no idea how! If anyone has any ideas, let me know! The traditional bento is made with the ratio of 4:3:2:1, 4 rice, 3 veggies, 2 starch, and 1 dessert. You don't have to follow that ratio but it's a good one to start with.
My bento is the one pictured. I have rice with curry and nori pieces for the face. I also have a tea marbled egg, which from here just looks like a regular egg because I didn't follow the directions correctly and I don't have the correct soy sauce. In the middle there is "hot" pickled vegetables and garbanzo beans. On the right there is a clemintine and a piece of crystalized ginger. The "2" "U" are pieces of carrot I cut out using my Wilton fondant cutters. The cheese man is scared because he just realized his fate is coming and he'll be eaten. There's also a wrapped candy for a little sugary treat!
